Oklahoma Life Skills Association was founded August 17, 2002 specifically to address a critical gap in . childcare services. Families could not find appropriate care for children who have a medical, developmental or emotional challenge. As a result they were unable to work or attend school. In
April of 2003 the Oklahoma Life Skills Association opened Special Kids, an in-home day care facility licensed to serve twelve children between the ages of 0-19. Today, Special Kids serves approximately
50 children, aged newborn to 19 years in a full inclusion setting. We are the only facility in the Tulsa area to offer this service. The Special Kids program offers Early Learning, summer enrichment and before and after school programs for children aged newborn to 19 years, with or without developmental disabilities. 95% of children served are very low to moderate income. Special Kids relies on the support of the community, volunteers and grant funding to maintain their unique services.
